It'll soon be Halloween so time to prepare some yummy treats for the neighbourhood kids. Try dipping Brussels sprouts in chocolate for them.

When I was a kid, popcorn balls made with Steen's cane syrup and pecans were a favorite. Along with peanut butter fudge, pralines, and satsumas. Yes, I'm so old that people used to give away homemade stuff rather than storebought candy when I was a kid. Actually, I'm not that damn old: I just lived in the kind of town where you knew everyone who rang the doorbell on Halloween & didn't think twice about eating homemade stuff.

If my friends and I would have gotten these as kids we'd have gone all Children of the Corn style on your arse real quick. Still better than Good & Plenty though.

Popcorn balls were awesome. I don’t think I’ve had one since I was a kid.
The jackpot houses were the ladies that would assemble treat bags and staple them shut so you could tear into it later.
