Any tried steaming lobster in a 80 or 100qt pot? What was your setup?

I have to do quite a bit of lobster ans trying to use my big pot so I'm not steaming 2 lobsters at a time. Id rather do like 10 at a time. I was thinking of just turning the basket upside down and setting them on top, but I think they'll be to far away from the water/steam.

Anyone did this or should I just do 2 or 3 in a steam basket on the stove top?

It will probably work but do you want to risk it? How many total lobsters are you doing?

If it’s ten, I would do three - four batches of 2-3 per batch. The window of lobster being undercook to overcook is so small.

Was just trying to save time and have everything ready at the same time.

Think I found something that might work, but will probably just use a small stove top steamer instead.

You need to find something to raise the basket a few inches for your water. Some soup cans or hang it some way. Two to three inches of water in a pot that size will make plenty of hot steam.

Ya, but I want the lid on the pot.

My dad has a big fish fryer, thr basket for that should hold like 6 or 7 lobsters. We got some 6" bolts and put them in the bottom holes. It should sit 6" off the bottom of the pot.

I'll have to take a picture tomorrow. Still dont know if we will use it.

The lobsters don’t soak up much of any seasoning when done in a pot. IMHO, grilled with butter or just steamed is a better cooking choice
