Great news in my opinion
Business report article
The Phoenix, Arizona company that operates Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. has signed a lease to open a grocery store in the planned Village Center at Rouzan. According to documents filed Jan. 3 with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court, SFM LLC signed a lease in October 2017 with Village Center Partners LLC, which is owned by Tommy Spinosa.
SFM is the trading symbol for Sprouts Farmers Market, which is traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
Spinsoa is the original developer of Rouzan and still retains the four-acre parcel on which the supermarket will be developed. He recently sold the rest of the 100-acre Traditional Neighborhood Development to a team of investors led by John Engquist, Charles Landry and Todd Waguespack.

Nice. Sprouts is awesome. Everyone should be excited about them coming to Louisiana.

is it that different from a fresh market?

It's a nice option for sure. My prediction & hope is that maybe Sprouts will anchor the Conway development on 44 in Gonzales. I can't imagine they will enter and stay in the market for a single location.

From my limited experience (1-2 Fresh Markets and 5-6 sprouts locations) Sprouts is substantially larger with a much wider variety & deeper selection.

Fresh market closed here before I went to one. So I don't know
Sprouts is produce driven, it's the majority space of the store. Very low prices but better quality than Kroger/Albertsons type places. Large bulk foods section with nuts, trail mixes, grains, beans, candy, seeds and chocolate.
Deli usually has Boars Head stuff and they will make sandwiches. The newer stores have salad bars too. Meat and seafood always has good deals. They alternate between chicken breast and thigh value packs for super cheap. Really good quality too.
Grocery is the expensive part with a lot of organic and natural items. Plus the vitamin section with all kinds of supplements, oils, etc. Much like whole foods in those 2 sections.
I managed the top store in Texas for a little over 2 years. They pay better than most and have great benefits so the staff is usually pretty good. Customer complements and complaints were part of our management bonus structure.

Until they get screwed by their lessor, which given the track record is a good possibility. It will probably sour them on Louisiana completely.

Chilled water facility all over again.

Doesn't the due diligence process (or a simple Google search) activate a siren and large red sign for these corporations that reads:
DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH THIS GUY! He will screw you!

I love Sprouts and shop there when I'm in Denver. We need something like that closer to Highland/I-10.

Nah. He’s not going to yank John Enquist’ chain.
