I think this is the 4th time I've been. Probably my least impressive experience there. Still good but I just didn't feel like the value was there this time.

They had 5 dollar wines by the glass on special. We ordered the sweet potato gnochi as a starter. Seemed like they were really skimping on portions to recover the costs of the discounted wine or something.

Note: I was here a week ago with my family and ordered this exact same dish so I know what it should look like when it's done right.

The other sub par dish was the Gulf Shrimp that I ordered for my meal (not to be confused with the gulf shrimp starter they currently have which is actually really good) Came with roasted potatoes, chorizo, arugula. The flavors just didn't meld together well and the chorizo was mediocre at best.

All in all though still a good meal for us. The rest of the food was great and service was great as well. I think they missed the mark a little last night which happens. I just think that with the prices that they command they shouldn't have "off" nights.

Would you recommend going for the $20 lunch? I've never been at all.

I agree. But, to an extent, with a menu that is changing nightly I can see a miss here and there. I've been 5 or 6 times and have been impressed each time.

Without a doubt.

Pretty cool that they have the lunch special on Saturdays.

Disappointing.

I'd still go back though. I want more of that asparagus soup.

Usually when I get to go. Sat AM or Sat PM. Tried to go a couple of weeks back and tried to get reservations about 10 days in advance and it was booked.

Oh I'll definitely be returning there. Most of my experiences there have been really positive. And aside from my complaints the rest of the food, drink, and service was great.

Lunch is definitely my meal of choice at Coquette. Dinner always disappoints, to some degree.

I've taken to calling this place the home of one ingredient too many. Seems perfectly encapsulated in that dish.

Like you, I was really high on the place, but grew tired after about the 4th or 5th visit.

I do think the chef is pretty talented, he just sometimes needs someone to rein him in.
