Shrimp and chicken tender batter

I cooked some shrimp and tenders the other day, but while I was prepping I noticed I didn't have any egg to do a wash. I didn't feel like going to the store so I just went with what I had. I put the protein in the bowl and poured seasoned it with fresh ground pepper, salt, Accent, garlic powder, a pinch of cumin, paprika and a generous helping of Old Bay. I then poured on buttermilk and let it set for an half our. Then I added 3 table spoons of flour and mixed with a spoon. Added a little water to thin it a bit. The batter was very flaky, but extremely good and it held on the shrimp and chicken too. I will do it again and update this post with pics. Very pleased with my results.

Who has buttermilk in their fridge but no eggs? Glad your batter came out okay, I like to use a wet batter every now and then too.

Used it yesterday on my wings. Made used a little less flour and made the batter really "muddy". Best wings I've ever had. The wife, sister and nephew are raving over them.

Wet batter on wings is probably my favorite way to eat them but I rarely do it. These look great.

It's not evil at all.
Really, it's not.
I'm surprised you're not complaining about the gluten in the flour or the fact that he's frying it.

That seasoning is legit. I just kind of winged it. It consists of:
Fresh ground pepper
Dill
Salt
Accent
Paprika
Old Bay
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Cumin
Then add heavy cream and buttermilk. Mix and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Add in three spoons of flour and there ya go
