Setting Goals for the kitchen and Life

When I was Director of Quality for Groen Division of Dover Industries, our competition in several areas was Wolf. I have always admired their home appliances. With this in mind I decided to price out the kitchen redo for the Condo in Orange Beach
Framed 36 inch induction cooktop $2,850 MSRP
30-inch Pro-series Steam Convection Oven $4,595 MSRP
30-inch E series Microwave $2,145 MSRP
42-inch French Door Refrigerator $11,595 MSRP
24-inch Undercounter Wine Storage $4,005 MSRP
LINK ]36-inch vent hood (Wolf) $2,480 MSRP
15-inch Deep fryer $1,995 MSRP
Countertop cooker $799 MSRP
LINK [KDTM704ESS]-5571597/KDTM704ESS/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noreferrer">24-inch Kitchenaid dishwasher $1,849 MSRP
Stone Backsplash Ballpark $5000.
Install $30,000
Total = $67,313
Would look nice in the beach place. Oh well, with income taxes, I won't book that much consulting work next year. Interesting goal though.

Or put it on layaway.

Never cooked on induction, is it superior to gas?

They make small hot plate style induction cookers if you want to try it. From research I did quickly, they are actually true to what an actual full scale cooktop could produce for you. I only mention it because I was wondering the same thing lately.

Got my first guitar with S&H Green stamps. It was a Kay Brand six string acoustic with nylon strings. Took a while to convince my mom to use 10 1/2 books. That was around 1960 and I still have it and play it every now and then.

Induction Cookers
From what I know - which is not a lot, they give almost instant heat and cool quickly, able to maintain low temperatures without a lot of hassle.
Sam's has a single burner unit - I stood and looked at it for ten minutes the other day and can't remember what it cost.
Someone here (Salmon? Napoleon?) has a full size cooktop and they always say it cooks very well with lots of positives. Rather expensive, but the technology is somewhat new.
You may have to buy a full set of cookware to use it. It needs to be steel, I think most stainless pots and pans work fine. Cast iron works well. I don't think aluminum heats on it. I don't think copper works on it. I think it must have some level of magnetic property to work.
Only the pan gets hot, The cooking surface stays "cool".
I could be wrong. If I am wrong, someone will correct me.

That's a cool story.
And you are older than me.

Gone are the days of green stamps and full service gas. Remember the attendants who would run out to your car when you drove over the alert hose and would check your oil and clean your windows? Yeah, I'm showing my age.
I won't even mention milk chutes.

My gas station still does that.
