Seasoning cast iron

I was given a 4 gallon cast iron stew pot with the round bottom. Its a little rusty and looks like its never been properly seasoned. I've never seasoned cast iron before and was hoping to get some good advice, tips whatever info you guys had. I've watched a few youtube videos but they weren't really that helpful. Thanks

Take the rust off with a grill scraper first, then build a fire and put it in there and let it get pretty hot. That should remove it all and get it down to bare metal. From there just cover it in oil, wipe it out good, leaving no residue, and pop it in the oven on low, maybe 225-250, and let it stay for an hour. Turn the oven off and let it cool. Wipe it down with a clean rag or paper towels and repeat. After doing that twice, start cooking in it. Fry up something like chicken and it will help season it. Just rinse with hot water and wipe dry, and add a light coat to it and put it back in the oven after each use.

I seasoned all my flooded pots after the flood and they came out great. Once all the rust is gone and the pot is clean I put a very light coat of grapeseed oil, threw it in my gas grill upside down so the oil wouldn't pool. 350 for about a half hour, then turn it off and let it cool. Then put another coat of grapeseed oil and repeat and 6 or 7 times. Also, anytime I cook I start with bacon, that really helps season the pot too.
