My wife, 2 year old and myself are in Houston at MD Anderson for a couple days.

Any good seafood restaurants in the area?

What about good food in general?

Nothing fancy just casual dining and maybe some to go options

Thanks

Goode Company seafood, Caracol, La Fisheria. Pappas Seafood is a step down from those 3, IMO, but still very good.

I wish I could say Reef, but it's still closed from Harvey.

If you're in the med center, I'd say hit up either The Pit Room or El Tiempo as well.

Eta: Hungrys is another good call, like OSA said. Right next to med center.

Goode Company Seafood is right down Kirby...get a campechana.

Others in the area...Local Foods in Rice Village, there is a Torchy’s in Rice Village, Hungry’s also in Rice Village. A short drive down Kirby north of the Village is Mia’s...good for kids, there is an El Tiempo on Richmond.

Think Common Bond just opened a place near the Medical Center too.

It did and my wife is pretty jacked about it

I second mia’s That’s a great spot for kids

Armadillo isn’t bad for kids either as long there isn’t a band. I actually have really enjoyed the past few meals there

Helen is not far but not ever kid friendly at all

The med center is pretty awful for food that you can walk to so you will need to branch out a bit. Wish you luck with whatever you got going on

We are ok doing this. It's my mother in law who is a patient. So we are fine exploring a little.

Try Truth BBQ off Washington.
They do close relatively early though.

I agree with Mia’s. As someone with kids, that place is perfect.

Tony’s Mandola’s on Waugh? Interesting...place is owned by the family that runs El Tiempo now.

Floyds in Pearland is great. Owned by an LSU alum. Seafood, steaks and other stuff. Fried pickles are great. I think they make a great gumbo. Their hamburger steak over rice is an excellent meal.
