Also market demand.
My point is that you get “peak bourbon” around the $50 mark, with rapidly deminishing returns past that point. Scotch starts to get good around that price point, and although a highly subjective, tends to be worth it even for very expensive bottles

I’m a bigger bourbon guy, but I honestly haven’t dove into scotch much. I know there’s different flavor profiles based on where it’s distilled right? Like speyside, highland etc?? I know I’m not a fan of the super peaty flavors so what kinda scotch should I look to be thatd be in the 50-75 range?

I agree.
I keep a bottle of Glenlivet 12 year old in my liquor cabinet.

$50 is when start seeing more higher quality, 10-14 year aged single malts. Aged much more than most bourbons.

To each his own, but I’d rather buy an equally priced bourbon than that. Not my favorite scotch by any means.

Keep drinking Scotch.
More Bourbon for me.

Oh man, I’ve got to find a bottle of Lagavulin Distillers edition. Forgot about Oban, that’s another go-to favorite

Agree. Scotch has more variety. Lowlands vs Speyside vs Islay among the other regions and differences even on places like Islay.

quote:What the frick? You cannot ever say "most scotch" because it is far more varied than Bourbon. There are 5-6 different regions with different characteristics and even within those regions there are great variations. Hell, there are great variations within distillers. For instance Bruichladdich has multiple variations in house from peated to non peated and that varies compared to other distillers on just the small island of Islay.
most scotch taste like and is as smooth as bad gasoline

Yes. How do you taste the whisky? Why not put it in your blender and have it "frozen?"

So how is the ice different in this glass than a huge cube or round ice from a mold?
Anyone does not matter.

BTW, that's the kitchen on your vacation rental?
