Sam’s smoked shredded chicken

We love to buy the Sams smoked shredded chicken and making bbq sandwiches out of it and then nachos out of the leftovers. I bought one a couple of months ago and put it in the freezer. We took it out a couple of weeks ago and it got shoved to the back of the fridge and forgot about. The expiration date says 7/3/2021. You think that’s right? It seems awfully suspect for chicken to be good for months but I suppose it is vacuum sealed. What do you think? Trust the date? Open and smell? Throw out?

No, it was not frozen which makes me think it should be fine but also seems quite strange for such a long expiration date.

If it smells OK, it will be just fine to heat up.
