Sakaya Lafayette - Closed?

I take notice of most businesses when I drive by. Google says they should be open. The open sign was off with nothing in the parking lot just before noon today. Yet ANOTHER Lafayette restaurant to bite the dust?

Although I don't like seeing anyone fail, I was scratching my head on this one. I went once just after they opened and it was a feeble attempt at Japanese cuisine. I think I heard they bought that building for $900,000 so it's not like a lease they can jump out of. Every time I drove by it was the same red truck and blue car (owners) and nothing else. I can't help think that it was a poor decision to open an attempt at Japanese cuisine within walking distance of the already established Tokyo, Tsubaki and Samurai.

Out of curiosity, I checked the waitr app and it says that they're unavailable. Maybe they just took a day off for unexpected reason. I have no idea how they've been making any money or keeping fresh fish fresh.
