Rum Recommendations

Looking for sipping rum recommendations. I’ve enjoyed Kirk and Sweeney 12 year and also enjoy Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. Is there a big difference in the Kirk and Sweeney 23 year? Any other I should look to try?

I like Zaya for sipping on the rocks. Rum is cheap so you have many options to try to suit your own flavor profile. I’ve had some sweet as bananas and others that taste as Smokey as Scotch.

I think Plantation Barbados 5 yr is fantastic for the price. Also Captain Morgan Private Stock is fine for sipping at a reasonable price.
The Zacapa 23 is not worth it to me personally, its a little dry. It is better than most rum out there, though.
Zaya is popular but just tastes like straight vanilla extract to me. Very one-note.

Calandros was out of Zacapa this weekend, so I bought a bottle of El Dorado 21 year. It’s fantastic.

Usually around $25. Not too dry, not too sweet.

I like this a lot. Vanilla and tobacco flavors are prominent. Sweet, but not too sweet. I know I can get the Kirk and Sweeney 23. Not sure about some of the others listed. Rum and Tequila selections in Alabama are limited. We have all the bourbons and whiskeys you can think of......

Bumbu is a spiced rum, with flavors added. Its not bad for what it is, but it tastes more like a mixed drink to me than a true barrel aged rum.

Kraken is dark rum, not spiced rum.
Try bayou spiced rum, that stuff is awesome for the price.
As for dark rum, gotta go with black magic. It’s like kraken, but better.
