This is a local group (produced in Lafayette) that makes a great single batch Rum..

Here is a link to their site.

Rankwildcat.. Sweet Crude Rum!!

Like I said, great product, mixes well with just about anything and local..can't go wrong.

I'm leaving for St. Croix and St. Thomas Friday. I will in fact bring back some Bones Rum, probably the smoothest rum I have ever had.

My wife's uncle goes on fishing trips to Nicaragua and brings back Flor De Cana. I'm not a huge rum drinker but it's real smooth.

If ever in the Houston area, check out Railen Rum Distillery in San Leon. This little lady makes some awesome rum/tequila (have to call it agave here). I've got a bottle of her Small Cask Rum, and it is very very smooth.

I think they carry it at some of the Specs.

I'm going to the bahamas in March, any suggestions on rums to look for to bring back would be helpful.

Vizcaya VXOP Cask 21 is a great rum. Appleton and Zacapa are excellent also. If you are just mixing, Myers Dark Rum is great.

Just picked up a handle of Sailor Jerry's and a fifth of Flora De Cana for mardi gras. How good is the Flora?

Is it a crime to mix with any high class rum that has been aged 20 years.

The 21 year is excellent. I usually get a few bottles of reserve each time I go and it last till the next trip. The 50 year was a very limited production. We have a Jamaican connection that hooked us up. I wish they made more because I'm gonna crave it once it's all gone.
