Just wanted to let y’all know. Smoked three racks of St. Louis cut ribs on the Weber kettle today using a 2x1 Royal Oak snake. The snake sat between 220-270 all day, and ran for 8+ hours. Obviously, the ribs didn’t take that long.

That's nice but I'll keep using Kingsford.

More Royal Oak for us!

It's the best I've tried. It's actually oak so you get real oak flavor. I discovered that my favorite Indian restaurant uses it to fire their tandoor.

Briquettes or lump?

Typically, the snake method uses briquettes. Since the OP said 2x1, I'm pretty sure that's the charcoal used.

Nope, no it's not. It's a mix of woods, burned, ground, and combined with cornstarch and other fillers to form a briquette. B&B Charcoal Oak briquettes, on the other hand, are all oak wood with no fillers.

Looks like it stood quite a bit as well. Kidding :)

While I agree that Royal Oak makes a fine lump coal, Kingsford Blue gives a much more consistent temp than a 50 degree range. That's the nice thing about smoking, though. No method is really "better" than the other, it's just what you're used to doing and what your preferences are. Cheers.
