I've dabbled some with decent results, but I would like to hone my skills/knowledge of the subject. Any recommendations will help.

Thanks!

The Virtual Weber Bullet

The bulletin board is a wealth of info on grilling, smoking, and related.

Steven Raichlen is a guy I grew up watching on the local PBS channel pre-internet days. He's an odd guy, but learned a lot about bbqing and smoking meats.

His website ... Barbecue Bible

All the ones mentioned are good, it is a good place to start, however, at the end of the day, it is best to log your cooks for a while. Find out what temps, amount of wood, done temps of meat, rub and fuel (lump vs Briq) gives you the best results. Just keep a diary almost til you hit your stride. Also learn where the hot spot and cold spots are in your smoker. Fattiest / thickest part of meat toward the hot spot. Smoking is great fun and enjoy it.

great advice. I used to do this until I knew that morning, before the cook, what I was probably going to write that day. Biggest/bestest key...know your pit.

Peace Love and BBQ is a great one. Mike Mills is one of the all-time winningest BBQ Pit Masters. I don't agree with everything he says, but will certainly give you a good base of knowledge on technique, rub and sauce recipies, etc...
