Quick Chicago restaurant recommendation?
Posted by Will Cover on 5/7/18 at 9:58 am10
It's been a couple of years since I have been there and am looking for a reasonably priced restaurant that is local to Chicago, preferably featuring Italian cuisine (not pizza), followed by American food (Doc B's was one of my favorite places for burgers).
Staying in Downtown Chicago tonight (Columbus Drive) and am open to a 10 to 15 minute walk.

To clarify, you would prefer to walk (no Uber or train) and eat Italian / American fare, correct? RPM, Nonnina and Volare are Italian spots within 15 minutes walking. For American fare, I would recommend The Gage and Travelle.

Bar Siena
A lot of small plates to choose from and craft cocktails. I'm pretty sure the chef won top chef as well.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to go anywhere. I'm still stuck at the airport. Was supposed to leave at 2:30 this afternoon.
Not leaving now until 8.
There goes that idea.

Monteverde is one of the best restaurants bang-for-buck that I've probably every been to.
I could give you a hundred recommendations, but if you're looking for superb Italian that is not absurdly expensive, it's my #1 choice.
Longman and Eagle is still a great spot and isn't nearly as difficult to get into after it lost its Michelin star this year.
Still, Sarah Grueneberg is a super-star chef in the making. I have zero doubt about that. Get there while it's not New York expensive and still a little on the low key.

Think people are missing this guy being at a hotel on Columbus (assuming something like Hyatt Regency or Fairmont) and wanting to walk 10-15 minutes.
