I have never been to Roberto's before and was thinking about going in the near future. I wanted to find out exactly where it was located, so I took a drive out there today.

To me, it looked like it was in shambles...there were cars in the parking lot, but the front entrance looked like it was under construction. All in all, it didn't look to be in good shape.

Now I have heard that it's a hole in the wall place, which is fine with me, I just wanted to know if anyone had been there recently to confirm that this is just the atmosphere of the place, and that it isn't closed down.

Thanks!

Your post makes me laugh. Yes, it does look quite run down on the outside. The inside is by no means fancy schmancy, but it's also NOT a hole in the wall at all. And, yes, they are open. God forbid that place close... I would kill myself.

I assure you, there is a reason that you have to wait for hours on some Saturdays. The food is phenomenal. The wine list is great (and relatively cheap). Everything is perfectly cooked, and the desserts are yummo. Roberto and his co-chef always make up a few dynamite specials that I usually try. The Catfish Billy is super good, too, and is not oversauced.

I can't say enough good things about Roberto's. Ignore the shack look of the place. Go inside and sit your arse down. I guarantee you will like it. It's not fine dining, but it is FINE food.

+ 1

I love the place. I second on the catfish Billy too. Good food for reasonable price.

I ate there Friday night for the first time. We had drinks in the bar while we waited for our table. All 4 of us were very pleased with our appetizers and entrees. I will be a repeat customer.

The other posts made it out to be pretty bad (even though it was Vday). I had always heard good things about it....

I have found it to be hit or miss, eaten there 3 times, first was a home run, everything was great, second time we both ordered the special of the night (fillet topped with crab) and over all it was average, third time we went on Sunday for brunch,I was about to order the Bar b que shrimp over grits with poached eggs, but at the last second I changed my mind to sauteed fish with almonds and shrimp, big mistake, I did not like it at all (and to make matters worse the next table ordered the egg/shrimp dish i was thinking about and it looked great) , but my wife ordered the fried shrimp and they were some of the best I have ever had. we ended up with king cake bread pudding that was ~ ok So while I was super impressed with my first visit and I have reccomended this place many times, not sure I will be in a hurry to go back, as others have said for the price you can get consistency elsewhere
