I have an 80 qt pot and it just doesn't really cut it. I just can't do a 30lb sack with average to above average amount of fixings. So I want to upgrade to a 120 qt pot. I've done some research and the cheapest I could find was $150 for an Outdoor Gourmet set from Academy. Are there any other decent options for less than $150?

Maybe second hand. You won't walk into a store and find one cheaper than that.

How is that possible? You sure your pot is an 80? I did 31 in a 60qt with fixins on Good Friday and had no issues.

actually saw someone post on next door selling 3 different size pots. They looked old but still works.

I'll double check but am 99% sure. for a 30lb sack of crawfish I might add a sack or two of potatoes and about 12 frozen corn ears, and mushrooms. I also have a sack of lemons in there.

There is no way that shouldn't fit in an 80. How much water are you putting in?

Still should fit. If anything just don't use the basket.

That's probably the cheapest you will find. If you only boil 4-5 times that will suit you fine.

Doesn't matter. I take the basket out of the pot and fill it to the top with crawfish, then place it back in the pot. Water covers the top of filled basket after ice.

Are you just trolling me at this point?

I don't measure but it's just past half, so 40-50 quarts..

I mean, there's no way that you should be overflowing an 80qt pot with 30lbs of crawfish and the amount of extras you say you use.

He's saying his basket is 100% full. The water level doesn't really matter at that point.

He is putting too much water in the pot, period. I have boiled sacks of crawfish in 80 qt pots all my life. 30 lb, 40 lb, doesnt matter.... along with bags of taters, corn, shrooms, sausage, onions, garlic, whatever.

Leave 5 holes visable in ur basket when u add water... will be plenty of room. Then use frozen jugs of water to cool it down rather than ice. Big Motts Apple Juice jugs are perfect. Couple of them per sack cools it fine - and wont overflow ur pot.

How does less water help with an overflowing basket?

And not overflowing with water, overflowing with food.

I read this thread and think his pot is overflowing, not the basket. A basket for an 80qt pot being overfilled with 30lbs of crawfish and what he listed as fixings makes even less sense.

Impossible w 80qt basket and 1 sack of crawfish.... unless he has an acre of red potatoes and a bushel of corn in the basket, too.

As the crawfish die, space in the basket increases, too.

This whole thread is baffling to me.
