Free lunch got me. Chicken Caesar with some sausage on the side. Calorie wise, not bad but the chicken in sausage has insane levels of sodium. Just ate it and already dying of thirst.

Skipped the white beans and rice to avoid the carbs.

A few days of being sick saw a drop of weight. Guess I'll see a gain soon.

may I ask you folks who contribute to this thread regularly and have lost a lot of weight, what were the contributing factors to you being so heavy?

- being lazy
- working in office
- not moving while at work
- getting food on the go
- over eating when we ate out
- eating out 4+ times a week
- drinking 2-4 cokes a day
- snacking
- consuming more calories than I burned
- not realizing I allowed myself to get as heavy as I was

Today is a strange day for me. One month ago from today I was running the Boston Marathon. My 10 week pregnant wife at the time, was sitting in the grandstands waiting for me to finish the last 0.5 miles of the race. It was a dream coming true...
I am now sitting here with a package from the BAA that includes my medal from the race. I have it on the table and have been looking at it for the last few hours. For some reason I can't bring myself to open it. Please pray for those who lost their lives and those that are injured for a speedy recovery. Tldr....

This right here is probably the reason 70% of overweight people are overweight. Too lazy to prepare my own lunch in the morning was killer, especially when you have a small time for lunch break during the day and limited choices. You are forced to eat horribly.

drinking 2-4 cokes a day

I'm on a 1200 calorie diet. I was drinking 2-4 cokes per day if not more. That's 280-560 calories or almost half of my budget per day on something that just makes you hungry immediately. I didn't realize this until it was too late. Just cut it completely, the artificial sweetener in diet/zero drinks may have no sugar, but they have the same short term effects as sugar as in making you hungry/crave food.

I still make real bad food choices all the time but one bad habit I've conquered is I don't drink sugar.

I used to polish off a 2 liter of coke about every other day. Easily 500 to 800 calories a day just from soda.

323/180.6/175

Mediocre day at the trough. gain is mainly from sodium. Not enough calories to gain almost a pound.

never been over 172 so can't respond to the question. but I was skinny fat which is just as bad. Poor diet, too much pufa's, breads and sugar caused high BP and bad blood numbers.

Yea I've gotten to the point I have maybe 1 diet drink a week. So I've maintained the good habits of cutting out coke/fast food but added bad of drinking more than once every other week and back to eating out 2 times a week at least.

Also contributing factors to weight gain

- long term relationship was comfortable so didn't work out

Went from being active in high school, to military, then after got a decent job that required me to sit on my arse. Not a good thing since I had to wake up for 6 to be at work for 8 and then worked till 5 with another 45-1:30 drive home. Fast food was quickest, cheapest option out.

Lsucm I'm sure getting your medal in the mail was bitter sweet but it's something that you worked very hard for, maybe in time you can put it all in perspective. I really can't imagine the emotions that whole event brings to you.

I got a email today from the BAA. Me and the other runners that did not get to finish have been given spots to run in 2014! Best email ever. Such a swing of emotions over the last 24 hours. Todays run will be great.
