Yea that's my feeling I think; you can have plates/spices etc on the griddle on places you aren't using so I guess it's exactly like the oven top.

No, you can't. It's a cast iron griddle. If you're heating up two burners the rest of the griddle is going to heat up also to some degree. If you want a place to put spices and other stuff that can't go on a hot surface buy the surround.

If I'm using the top left the bottom right should be somewhat cool. I understand what you're saying though

There is no top left and bottom right. These are rectangular burners, not round. The burners run vertically and there are four. You could possibly do two on one side and the far area to the other side would be cool enough.

I'm not sure how cooking on one burner would be honestly. I think you need multiples going to get the heat required to cook properly.

good deal. what are you cooking tonight? im going to do the oil burn and then burn some onions on it. Im reading avacado oil has a really high burning temp so i might use that. but i have a ton of veggie oil i might use too.

I'll likely spend some time getting it seasoned during the week. Probably won't actually cook on it til the weekend. which is why i was so disappointed that it didn't show up Friday.

but I just don't have the amount of people in the house to warrant such a purchase, no matter what the price. It is just the wife and I now and I'd hate to just have that thing sitting around

You could buy it then give it to me or sell it to me for a garage sale price.

Mine showed up at 7:30 last night. Haven't even had a chance to open the box. Hoping to get it put together after work today.

I don’t have a pic but when I was seasoning mine, I left the burners on high for quite a while and kept putting more oil on the cast iron. I was using tongs with heat resistant plastic grippers to hold the paper towels and it got so hot that I melted the heat resistant plastic and smeared it across the surface.

Got mine assembled and the first round of seasoning done. I'll probably season it a little more over the next few days and try to get it ready for the weekend.

ETA: 2 things i'm not sure I like about this model. I'm kind of afraid of the lip on the front. I can easily see me hitting that with my hand or arm.

And, I can do without the cutting board on the side table. Although i kind of like the idea of hanging a garbage bag in that spot.

I don't like the addition of the cutting board either. Please post your impressions on the grease trap on the back.

i like the idea. i guess i'll see how it works once i actually start cooking. it looks rather small for a griddle this size.

ETA: the towel rack is a nice feature. Didn't even realize it was included.

That i did not know; figured it was circular burners. Therefore yea may be difficult to do what I was proposing.

Still, if i move to Dallas (fingers crossed everything works out on that) then i'm getting a house with a backyard for the dog and something like this

I used paper towels. The third time around applying oil, the damn oil got my thumb real good.

I only put oil on once when seasoning and burn it off. Then reapply oil once it has cooled.
