Proper temp to smoke a prime rib?

Uncle smoked one on his grill Last year and it came out very good. I would say it was slightly more medium than med rare.

He says he smoked it at 275 the entire time but I've read a few different takes on it on different sites. 225....250... Even seen one site say 300.

I took this Pic just before he pulled it last year and he says it was holding steady at 275. This was before we heated it up for the sear.

Running temps like that on an empty cylinder, or in your uncle’s case no cylinder at all, is extremely difficult and not something for a novice or weekend warrior type pit master.

That said, I remember you texting me that day with pics of the finished product. My first thought was:

It wasn't heated up for The sear yet... That was right after we Pulled it off.

Honestly I was worried the thermometer was off by the optics of it but he swore up and down. I moved the plastic Plants out of the way just in case. The neighbors in the upstairs apartment complained about the smoke because he was using 2 of them smoke tubes one on each side.

225 is the correct temp.
Cook to 120-125 and pull. Time is no factor, only temp
