Was a busboy about 12 years ago. Back then we got tip share from the waiters which was automatically added to our paycheck. Averaged out to 10 bucks an hour.

This was fine dining btw.

I've worked in several restaurants and never heard of busboys making less than minimum wage. Like many others have said, they also get a percentage of tip share. At most places, the servers are required to tipout around 2% (this percentage varies from place to place)of their total sales and this tip out goes to the bartender, bus boys, and sometimes the hostess, depending on the amount of responsibilities they have.

I just hope some of you folks understand where your tips go because of this thread.

Your waiter really isn't making $80K a year just because your buddy says he is.

I started as a bus boy at the melting pot in 2002 and I think we got 7.00 an hour plus tip out. I may be off by a little on rate. It's been a while
