It's just pork chunks and tortillas.
the Mexican place I get pastor and carnitas from serve it with corn tortillas, chopped onion and cilantro and lime
it's fantastic
I'm sure I will get shite for this, but this stuff is pretty good if you want to make your own:
I cook it in a cast iron pot in the oven a couple hours until the pork pulls apart. I plan to use it on some pulled pork if I ever get around to getting a smoker.

So what if you get shite for it.
I cook mine in a crockpot all day then pull and sear in cast iron before serving.
I guess it's not really carnitas but that's what I call it.
If you prepare it and enjoy it...who cares what anyone says about it.
Just don't post pics.

Pretty sure that's how they are traditionally served in Mexico.

Tomatoes in your gumbo? Frozen chicken tenders? Let me guess...Wishbone Italian dressing?

Me either. My wife looks at me like this for it:

Pulled the recipe from the food truck guy and had to improvise for lack of regional ingredients. I am not shy about sharing the recipe as someone may have some advice to offer on improving the recipe.
What are some of the ingredients that you can't get?

hell no, no, and no, but I'm not above using a shortcut or two. In my family, supper was just a meal, not an event
I've eaten my share of casseroles with cream of mushroom/chicken/celery soup. I put ketchup on my hotdogs. I cook my steaks on a gas grill and sometimes I'm too hungry to let it "rest"
frickin' heathen, I know

Let's put it this way. I could understand the lime, cilantro, and I believe he said ranch dressing or ranch dressing spices, mayo and some things I couldn't grasp?. He sputtered off the spices, but his accent was very thick and my Spanish is not very good. I tried to identify as many things as I could about the flavors. My wife says it tasted similar to her. After my initial mix, I added an avocado, and that really helped develop the creaminess and mellowed flavor. I think next time, I'll back off the ceaser dressing, add some whole milk and some jalapeños to the mix. I recall his being a bit hotter. Overall, I was still very pleased with the outcome.
