Prisoner does have a Pinot that is not their red blend. It’s California but do not recall where.

Lots of good suggestions in this thread. I, personally, would choose one from Oregon Willamette Valley.

I think Costco has a Kirkland Box that won't go bad when opened. Everybody loves Costco.
ETA:
I just recently had to purchase wine and liquor for a party. The bartender at my Club suggested Elk Cove for a Pinot Noir.

without being rude, I love to get Meiomi drinkers to taste meiomi side by side with a good pinot, when they do, they get it

Absolutely horrendous garbage. It’s bizarre. Sugary dark crap

It is so much more helpful to know wines by region than their grape.
Pinot Noir is at its greatest in Burgundy. If you want to buy a special gift, see if you can find something from there.
Outside Burgundy, Pinot Noir grows best in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, where there is also a collective effort by winemakers to preserve high standards.
You'll get much more value for your money from an elegant Willamette Pinot Noir than something hot and heavy from California.
