I stop by every now and then. It was my Dad's favorite spot when he went to LSU in the 70's.

I stopped by for lunch this past October, the red sauce was still good. It seems that they changed the menu though, as their Chicken Cacciatore was no longer on the menu (it was my personal favorite).

It is defiantly the closest to old school Italian that you can get in Baton Rouge, in my opinion.

Don't have a party of more than 4 people - they don't want to push tables together to seat 6.

Their "German" food sucks.

Their lasagna was good when I went a couple of years back. I was the only one out of 6 that enjoyed his food.

It should still be available, I think. My wife ordered that one of the last two times we went, in October or November.

I'll never understand how people on this board give Pinettas a pass for their awful slow service, filthy atmosphere, and even roaches crawling around, just bc they are "old school" and make a good red sauce.

My go to is the Wiener schnitzel. I really like the sauerkraut, not to over powering.

Was unaware this was a menu option.
In my opinion, best lasagne in BR.
I actually liked the place so much, I worked there my senior year at LSU. Quit after two months cause Mrs Beringer (owner) kept scheduling me during football games.
