I've been a few years back. All beef is hand selected by the 80 year old female owner. They only serve porter houses that taste like hot buttered popcorn.

The restaurant is full of mobsters and Eastern Europeans.

The steak will be the standard by which you judge beef.

It's a good place. FWIW, my true NY steakhouse experience will be found at Sparks

my top 3 NYC steak houses:

1) Strip House
2) Peter Luger
3) Keen's

if you go to Luger more than once try the hamburger after your initial steak dinner. the burger is phenomenal.

I want to go to Sparks just because that is where John Gotti had Big Paul Castelano killed.

I have eaten at Sparks and you can have it! One of the worst dining experiences ever. Peter Luger's in Brooklyn was an enjoyable night. Loved the "Steak for 2, Steak for 3 or Steak for 4" options. When they delivered the platter of T-Bones stacked on top of each other with the German (yes, German!) Potatoes I was in heaven. Would have stayed longer if the chairs were more comfortable...

I have been twice. It is real good, but The Palm is better IMO.

Only if you have a Peter Luger's credit card. If not, only cash.

Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing that on TV.

I dont think its really prices unreasonably..

From what I can find its about 160 with tip which puts it pretty close to the Ruths Chris price range.
