To be honest, I would have MUCH rathered that Outback raised prices $2-$3 across the board per entree than to cut back on portions or quality. They would have still been packed.

they got rid of most of the plateware and most of the stemware they were using (along with new soft drink glasses and new uniforms)

the new plateware was just smaller then the old...to be quite honest, their salads were incredibly large in comparison to others

which is one of the things that made them stand out at one time .. now they are alot like the namesake of one of their wines -- greg norman -- they have fallen back in the pack ..

i used to walk out of outback stuffed like a christmas turkey .. that's what i really liked about the place ... the bad thing about starting out with large portions is that when those portions get cut and the price doesn't, then it pretty much stands out like a sore thumb .. as it does in this case .. i guess when you are handed a salad that is half the size that it used to be and are handed shrimp on your GSontheB appetizer that are much smaller, you are then expecting the steak to prolly be cut back on as well .. which it noticeably is ... i'm like some other posters, i'd be willing to pay a few bucks more to maintain the quality and quantity that i expect .. but don't serve me far less than i used to get for the same price if not a little more ..

i put gas in my car, i go to the grocery store, etc. .. i know things cost more .. i know that fuel costs basically effect everything dollar-wise .. i'd rather outback not touch the quality of my meal and charge me more ..

The portion I wouldnt care about but if they did indeed chop the onions and use boxed croutons and stop making their dressing then dont even offer it to me.

was this something they did b/c they ran out?

they have always used chopped red onions in the blue cheese chopped salad..not sure why the house salad would go to it

again, is it possible they ran out of sliced red onions?

Dont know I havent been to Outback in a while but that would erk me if I did and saw that since I dont like red onion and just normally pick the ring off the top. But that was reported as such by two different people in this thread.
