If a restaurant is selling 8 lbs buckets of Boiled Crawfish...do you expect to receive a platter with crawfish that actually weigh 8 lbs?

I know some season establishments will weigh them in front of the customer, but others have been known to short the pounds. Thoughts?

Is there a State Law that requires the seller to weigh correctly?

If you're not bringing your own scale and weighing it yourself, how can you be sure you are getting exactly 8lbs?

Yeah I load up my scale and bring it in the establishment just to double check

I guess the question is are they selling you 8 lbs of cooked crawfish or what's the result of 8 lbs of live crawfish by advertising "8lbs of Boiled Crawfish for $50"

well to be accurate they arent advertising 8 lbs of crawfish, they are advertising an 8 lbs bucket filled with crawfish.

even an empty 8 lbs bucket is still a bucket that holds 8 lbs of stuff.

go to seafood market where you see them weight out exactly to the pound what amount you want to buy

the higher the price per pound the more they will take every advantage to cheat you.

wholesalers are required to have state certified scales. I'm sure anyone selling anything by the pound is required to have the same. Now whether they purposely stiff you or not is a different story.
