I hate to pollute the FD board with politics, but sometimes there is a crossover. The liberal mainstream media is always a little bonkers about their pet causes, pardon the pun, but this is way overboard even for them....

CNN Idiocy

They are dissing a great organization because it doesn't fit their ridiculous view of utopia, do any of those morons realize that in nature it is very rare for an animal to die of old age. Getting eaten is 'natural causes' for almost all species.

I do not want to be a vegan, a vegan is as unnatural a state for a human as living on the moon. I love vegetables too, but if these nuts had their way eating meat would be illegal. If you don't think such laws are possible, you better have a look around you, whoever thought a city would outlaw fois gras.

The pro-meat articles and reports far outnumber the anti-meat reports. So CNN presents another viewpoint...Get over it. And it is also unnatural for a human to live in a air conditioned house, not have to hunt to survive and have monogamous relationships. Somehow we as humans are able to overcome this unnatural burden.

I don't have a problem with presenting "another viewpoint" in this area, my problem is, I think that article has things a bit backwards, in what it's trying to get at.

If anything, I'd argue it is the distance that most Americans have these days on where their food actually comes from that has done more to "desensitize" us to the notion that we are actually eating living things.

That is another valid point and I have seen articles and reports espousing such. Probably on CNN but I don't know for sure.

ETA: Going back and looking at that article again, it appears the main purpose of this section of CNN's website is to provoke discussion. So taking a controversial viewpoint is appropriate.

Tongue in cheek of course...boycotting is rarely appropriate.

The most egregious part of the article is the adding "hate" part...the left did the same thing to the Boy Scouts when they offended the mighty leftist media machine.

I'm glad the conservatives never do anything like that.

Politics aside, this is the dumbest fricking article I've read in a while.

Kids, nothing dies unless it wants too. Ignore reality, eat celery and put your head under a pillow. Yippeee!
