Wife's birthday trip planned for Vegas in January. Her dining request is an omakase meal. My wife loves sushi and I'm OK with it. Please give me some recommendations for places to consider, with your experience and quality/cost comments.

I also really liked Kabuto when I was there a few years back, but I couldn't get in this past trip. I think it was their head Chef who broke away and began Yui, which I tried this last time but didn't care for as much. Unlike Kabuto, I found that the cost of Yui outweighed the experience.

The Japanese place in Vegas that I'm absolutely hooked on now is Izakaya Go on Spring Mountain Road. It's not Omakase like Kabuto, but it's a hardcore Japanese menu with quality food and you sure do get your money's worth. I went there twice on my last visit and each meal I over ordered just because there was so many Japanese items I wanted to try that I can't here in Louisiana, and each bill was under $100 for just myself, which was a steal for what I ordered. I'm not an all you can eat guy who touts lots of mediocre sushi for cheap, but what I'm saying is that you will really get your money's worth, unlike my experience at Yui where I dropped $300 and went away meh.

I will again be visiting Izakaya Go next time I'm in Vegas. It's off strip, so the cost of an Uber outweighs the cost of any strip restaurant.

Do try to get into Kabuto if it's omakase if that's you're looking for, but make your reservations well in advance, and for experience sake, reserve at the sushi bar rather than a table.
