They are crunchy and a good source of protein.

Any one here been to Pinettas and can give me some good insight on it? I drive by it all the time and have been curious about it for years.

I like it. Very different place. Lots of good Italian/German offerings IMO

Have you ever heard of a thing called atmospere in a restaurant, as your posts seem to scream NO.

I didn't realize we were discussing atmosphere. The OP was talking about places that haven't been updated. No need to be a dick.

It's not like there are strict definitions of "old style."

My parents used to go there on dates, and the waiters were known for remembering everything without writing it down. When i went in the late 80s, it was super dark, and average foodwise, and the waiter would forget my order 2-3x, but also would forget to put beers on the bill, so it was a wash.

New ownership, the old ones retired and closed it down, it was bought by the business name about ten years ago.

I assumed old-style implied atmosphere or style, ie a place out of the 50s or 60s. Mason's is just a crappy building.

I think Drusilla Seafood might qualify. They haven't changed in forty years.

Louie's.

Not sure how long they've been open, but it seems the same as when I started college in the late '80s.

Not really in Baton Rouge, but LaFleur's in Denham/Central is like being in a nursing home They have plastic patio chairs and tables covered with those thick fruit-patterned tablecloths that used to be popular.

Also the one time I went to Carlos, it felt like nothing had been changed since before it closed down the first time.

Gino's doesn't look like it's changed much since it was opened, although I haven't been going there that long so I have no idea. I just get that old feeling in there.

This is a good example, I think.

A lot of the old style places have closed since I left town after college:

Jack Sabin's
Giamanco's
Phil's Oyster Bar
Ruby's
Mickey's Golden Nugget
Europe's
The Village
Chinese Inn
Poet's

I like Pinettas, mainly for its uniqueness and the fact they have items that can't be found anywhere else in the city. I really like their red sauce and the Schnitzel Holstein.

I agree with the old-style feel of Gino's.

What about Don's Seafood on Airline? I've never been there, but it looks kinda old-school from the outside...

Grew up eating there a lot. I haven't been in a long time, but they did have older women waiting on you and certainly more of an old school vibe than a modern one.
