Hello F&D folks. I came here a while back about cooking a deer shoulder, and got some great advice. Braised it, and it came out awesome. Thanks for that.

I'm coming with another question. Cooking a pork roast (pork loin end roast to be exact) and rice and gravy tomorrow. Have 8.5 lbs worth of pork.

How many people can I expect that to feed? Hard to find answers for rice and gravy that are helpful on the internet.

20-25 with a little room for error. Loin doesn't shrink much. Sides will stretch it further.

Damn..an 8 1/2 lbs pork roast will feed 20-25 people? I was a little worried with 12 plus 2 little kids. Guess I have no worries.

15-20. Figure on 8 ounces per person.

The pork is just a vehicle for the rice and gravy at my house. 1/2lb per person is very generous.

The gravy is always my biggest concern. There’s never enough. I use Minor’s pork base to stretch it but you have to watch the salt. I’ve browned pork bones in the oven to make stock, but that’s not always an option.
