well said. that's why i think he is great friends with the guy or something. if he thinks that this little NY Pizza place is supposed to shut down the Dominos of baton rouge, he is sadly mistaken.

I dont know Johnny personally but he does recognize me when I eat there. And No I do not think the place will take over the Domines of BR anymore than I think the world will one day be void of idiots.

Lets all just burn down the unique family restaurants in BR and celebrate at our local Applebees! Here is to great food!

Another example of worth the money:

Lousiana Lagniappe is good, but I'd rather go to Parrain's for comparable food for a little smaller price.

I'm sure you'll jump all over me for that too huh.

My Opinion: I don't think it's worth the money?..........that's an opinion

Thats fair.. You do with your money what you want. Like I said he could probably have better specials but a local family place cannot run the specials a giant company can and still survive. I cannot stand Dominos myself but they didnt get big by having people not like them.

Catman--I don't think anyone would disagree that we want places like Johnny's to survive. He needs some competition because the place is a bit below par at the moment. Let me take my wife's stance for a moment. She likes food. She likes pizza. She likes to dine out, but she isn't Jenny from the block. Close, but not quite. So you go into Johnny's and the dude is a bit strange. The kitchen is slow and the neighborhood kinda blows. The pizza is ok, but not extraordinary by any means. Or, you go into a place like BJ's and get the corporate clean lines. The beer is good and the deep dish pie is very very nice. Afterwards you walk over and get a double dip of ice cream and the kids ride the merry-go-round. This experience makes women feel good. Local joints need to create an experience that today's suburban woman wants. Men don't care..they just want a nice slice of pie and a good rack to look at before heading home to sleep. People like Johnny need to not only start making better pizza, but also to create a nice family environment so that I don't have to go to macaroni grill every third Friday.

No both are local places that I have always recommended and I think Parrains has the best value in the city.. (I think I actually posted that in a thread yesterday) I prefer Louisiana Lagniappe more but for the money I couldnt argue with someone choosing Parrains.

Now if you choose Joe's Crab Shack over Louisiana Lagniappe or Parrains it would be closer to what I am arguing about.

joe's crab shack is almost as good as nagoya.

nagoya > parrains and louisiana lagniappe combined

chinese farmed tilapia FTW!

I cant disagree with any of that.

I would also be pissed if I had a problem and the owner was on site and he did nothing. I REALLY wish I could meat the owner of the local Popeyes franchises.. I would like to punch him..

FWIW I think NY Pizza has been trying to improve.. Someone talked about a new location and I know his current location underwent a big update of the right side dining area. I didnt visit it before that update but I hear the place was tiny prior.

Now when it comes to steaks I feel I can do a better job than most of the restaurants. I just prefer being able to flavor the steak myself.

Quick question Catman.

Which Restaurant do you hate more?

Joe's Crab Shack
Applebees
Olive Garden

I cannot stand spending alot of money on a steak at a restaurant.. Mainly because I find I can do just as good at home. Now I do often age my own steaks for a couple of weeks and work hard for it but I find it much more rewarding than having a kid at Ruths cook a steak for me and charge me 50 bucks.

I hope Johnny moves in to the Perkin's road overpass area (I happen to live there). The Zippy guy pulled the plug on a pizza place in the hardware store, so they are looking for tenants. I think that his concept and oven would be a great success in that part of town.

Wow... Hmmm I will have to go with Applebees..

At Joes you can get king crab that no matter where you go unless you live in Alaska you will get frozen.

At Olive Garden they have good salad and breadsticks and in a decent entryway into people learning to apreciate Italian restaurants.

Applebees however competes with Chilis which is not a bad chain for food and value. (and great drink specials) Applebees doesnt have anything to offer me.

Overall though I hate Red Lobster within 100 miles of any coastline the most.
