I've never had a gas oven, so I don't know about that.
When I cook at my Mom's on her electric stove top, I have to remember to time things differently, try to figure out the right temp to put the burners on and move pots and skillets when done since it takes a while for the burners to cool down. Takes some getting used to, but you can certainly do it for a year.

your biggest problem will be rice! I use 2 burners, 1 on high and one on low for steaming. Most chefs have gas stoves and electric ovens.

Sympathy to the OP.
I cooked on gas for years and had a difficult time adjusting. I would tend to get pans too hot and often forget to turn the burner off.
