I challenged my neighbor to a “Chopped” style meal. I said I’d buy the groceries (no more than $35), and he had to feed 6 adults an appetizer and entree. There was no time limit, only rule was he couldn’t use any protein from his kitchen.

I spent $35.48

Portobello mushroom, sweet potatoes, skirt steak, frozen shrimp, guava nectar, raspberry chia, canned tomatoes, & miso soup mix

Here is the menu he came up with in about 15 mins

Here are the plates (took him abut an hour to make all three dishes

The pasta was the only non-seasoning that he used

Not officially a chef (he says he isn’t), but he is a part time caterer and does competitive bbq competitions.

Everything was awesome, the steak was a little tough but had great flavor. He even said he needed more time for that cheap cut of meat.
