I make a good roux based one but the wife wants a cream based one this time. I’m not a fan of that version but I’m gonna make it for her. Any suggestions?

I found this a couple years ago and it’s good. I do 3 cans of whole corn, 3 lbs shrimp.
ETA: I doubled this a few years back and made a huge pot for Christmas at in my in laws. I put it on the stove there and told my SIL it just needed to be heated up, then I went outside to fry a turkey. I started to tell her how to heat up soup, but figured it was something she could do. I came back in and she had the pot at a rolling boil and ruined the whole damn pot of soup.

There is a great tomato, corn and shrimp soup in Donald Link’s Real Cajun. Can probably find it online.
Otherwise you should just make both a shrimp stock and a corn stock and use both of those with some aromatics to make a simple but delicious soup.

corn stock
It really makes a difference in the fresh corn flavor especially when corn is out of season and you have to use the grocery store corn on the cob that's not as sweet. I won't use canned or frozen corn in a corn and seafood soup or bisque.
