Actually...it's better to freeze the steak...thaw it out...and re-freeze before thawing it in the microwave.

24 hours in Dales and u are good to go.

See, that's the problem with WF. People are so status conscious that it's absurd.

No, I am a frequent WF shopper, and I don't do it to be seen.

However, I do own an OVEN, and although I don't have convection at home I can still master finishing a thick steak in it after it comes off the grill to temp.

And to think, I do it without a Hot Pocket Heater Upper.

I went to the WF in St Louis to pick up a few things for the wife, I am surrounded by the be seen crowd all around me. I glanced up to see the face of a friend who I had not seen in twelve years. Shopping was put on hold for twenty or so minutes, there are more important issues in life.

You're right CITWITT, there are many more things more important. It just cracks me up how so many I don't think really get the reason to go to WF as much as they see it as a status statement. Those people hanging out outside drinking latte and talking on their phones for the world to hear how much of a mover and shaker they are is just strange. I so badly want to introduce a little perspective into things and go in the middle of them and say "Hey. guys, this is a GROCERY STORE.

I just read all six pages and all I can say is I wish I had that eight minutes of my life back.

Cook the steak and you will feel better about it. At least do it to see if it is as bad as all the posters were saying.

I think you will see...it really makes no difference.

Nah. I'll take your word for it. It's a noble experiment but the thread went down hill from the get go.

I actually tried it tonight, not gonna say it was good or bad but different. I used a 13 oz ribeye about 1 in thick. Cooked for 1 min in microwave then 2 and 2 and it was past medium. I've cooked them on the pit and also the stove/oven method and I must say I would do either of these methods over the microwave.

Damn really? Are you sure the power was on HIGH? It could really screw up your steak if it isn't.

Sorry I was a little dramatic. I have done it. Wasn't for me. I also cook for a living and this is like breaking a commandment.

Cooking is like screwing, if you don't try new things and you start worrying about what should never be done on principle, you're missing out.
