My parents live next door to us too Rat. My father inherited all this land when his pops passed and he gave each of his three siblings (my two brothers and I) some property to build our homes on. Only two of us chose to do so because the older brother is married to the devil and she thinks shes better than us so they don't come to Christmas dinners. We had my younger brother and his children and grand kids and my family with our folks. We just lay it all out as a smorgasbord and eat when and how much you want. Let the kids open gifts first so they can play then we open the adults gifts. We drink and laugh and joke around. All in all a normal year for us even with the Covid crap. My brother and I realize our years with our folks are dwindling down fast so we make the most of it.

My family is very small, now. 1sib, love her and my BIL is the bomb. Her 2 adults kids are nice, no SOs yet. I’ve got 1 son, no SO yet either. So 6 of us for very nice Christmas lunch. Talked about the best and worst of 2020, and family no longer with us. I’m very very lucky
