My son came home with a bag full of green pine cones and dumped a pile of sugar on them. He claims that after 30 days, it will turn into some delicious syrup. I’m skeptical.

Looks very similar to the Korean syrup Cheong.
Petty much put any organic material in a jar with equal parts sugar, by weight, and wait for the sugar to dissolve and the organic material to degrade. Instant (90 days) infused sugar syrup.
