I haven't had every muffaletta out there, but I love the one at R&O's. The olive salad has a little kick. I like it way better than Central Grocery.

World Deli is where my first muffuletta came from when I was a kid. Haven't had another of theirs in decades.

There was a place located behind Royal China a while back. It's now closed, but they had a muff to come back for. What made it memorable for me was that, as well as having great bread and fillings, it was topped of with some kind of herbage. I've never had that before or since.

It was great. Anybody know what herbs could be used for a muff?

ETA: This was on top of the bread, not inside.
