Which one offers a better steak? What are the pros and cons of each. I'm poor white trash and haven't been to either of them so I'm open to all advice.

Everyone rants and raves about Mr. Lester's, and they undoubtably have steaks on par with Ruth's, but I don't think they are worth the 40 minute drive when I have an RC 10 minutes from my house.

I mean that place is in BFE. And I'd rather not have to look at the low income people smoking cigarette's and playing slots on my 1/2 mile trek to the restaurant from the parking lot.

You make a great point, both are pretty comparable in price, right?

I think Lester's is more expensive, but I definitely think it's better. Part of the fun is the adventure getting out there(and the "locals"). We get the casino to send a bus for a group of us a couple of time a year, good times.

As someone who has to make the trek to New Iberia and goes to Mr Lesters at least twice per year, Ruths Chris is the better steak. Trust me.

Someone on here put it best when they described the obsession of Lesters as "the taste of the city comes to the country and everyone goes apeshit over it."

Plus Lesters is more expensive and the service is good but not as good as Ruths.

park in valet not at shortys and it is right there inside the casino. I enjoy Mr Lesters better because I like a road trip now and then, everything they serve, except for the obvious, they make in house from Breads to Ice cream. Smoking is only allowed in the Cigar Bar,not in the dinning room but if you do smoke, there are tables in the cigar bar, RC is nice but Mr Lesters is special because it is an effort to get there and it is fun once a quarter or so just to do it. Also it is much more a fine dinning experience than RC but I do them as well.

ENJOY!!!!

I went there about 12 years ago and they had this smoking hot waitress...I mean Playboy material. All of the managers were drooling over her and they were married.

Besides that, I would say Ruths.

Lester's has the better steak but it's a long arse drive and it's more expensive.

You can eat at a Ruth Chris anywhere, hell I've even seen them in Mexico.

I hit up Mr. Lesters last week and was impressed with everything else they did... The steak was good (not great) but the fresh made breads and butters and their desserts were killer. I enjoyed my experience

I've never heard of, much less eaten at Mr. Lester's, but I just checked their menu out online and it doesn't say that they serve USDA Prime meat. I'm not sure if this is the case but if I served prime meat, I'd be sure to put it on my menu. I think every other restaurant does. If they are in fact serving Select, then anyone saying their steaks are better than RC's is a fool. You're basically paying RC's prices for an outback steak. Lester just dressed the place up like a nice steak house and pulled the wool over your eyes.

I've had both and prefer Mr. Lesters. Bone in ribeye is delicious.

Mr Lesters, prime beef cut in house since they opened. If you don't know where it is and haven't ever been maybe you should find out?

guess it is an individual thing etm but I have driven to Madisonville to eat and Keith Youngs place before and now that we have a base there I have found others worthy of a trip in the area.

I broke the cardinal rule at Mr. Lester's the last time I was there. I ordered the filet topped with lump crab. The crab really took something away from the steak experience. I'll never do that again.

And the time before that I got the prime rib (medium) and it was freaking cold meat. I like a rare steak but this was a bit ridiculous. This was my bad, I know prime rib is served rare. Looked good on the menu and I wanted to try it because it had been a long time since I had prime rib, but this is not my steak, this steak is for T-Rex.

So that was two meals in a row where I was shelling out big bucks for less than a perfect dining experience.

The breads at Mr. Lester's are a special dining experience all by themselves. They serve you 6 or 8 different kinds of bread with 3 or 4 different butter spreads. My wife gets the bread basket restocked during the meal for our doggy bag. Great breakfast the next morning.

I will go back to Mr. Lester's, but the next few times I'll be a RC.
