Monterey CA suggestions

Going to be there one afternoon/evening.
Any suggestions for a meal?
As usual, I am looking for something more casual and fun than anything else.
I want decent food, but James Michelin and Billy Beard awards are not important.
Need help so we don't end up at Bubba Gumps.

Don’t go. The whole town is a tourist trap. Just go to a Carmel and stay there. There are a lot better restaurants there.

Not staying there.
I will be arriving around 230, piddling around, doing the 17 mile and out of there by 6 or so and heading inland.
Touristy or not, it's a beautiful place, so just looking for a place to grab a bite and see the scenery while doing so.
Any Carmel suggestions?

I would do one of the pebble beach restaurants if youre doing 17 mile. We went to the bench for lunch one day and it was awesome. Our table was outside and looked over the 18th and the ocean. Great experience and food. Also if you're into craft beer I'd suggest Alvarado St. Brewery, scenery is nothing special but they brew some good stuff.

Casanova was fantastic, may not be what you’re looking for though.

I second this. I played Pebble with a friend a few years back and after the round we sat at one of the fire pits outside at the restaurant overlooking 18 green. We were there for probably 4 hours eating, drinking, and talking to random people that came and went. It was one of my favorite parts of the trip.

Booked reservations at The Bench a little while ago. It looks great.
The reservation guy told me that their restaurants over at Spanish Bay face west. Great sunsets and a guy playing bagpipes as the sun goes down.
But I thought overlooking PB would be better. And I’m not even much of a golf fan.
