Sushi in Nola is generally speaking just not very good. Surprising since it's such a good food city otherwise

It's depressing how terrible our sushi is in New Orleans. Not one place comes close to getting the rice right. It's so frustrating. I get my fixes in Houston and Atlanta now.

I'm well seasoned in the food industry for 15 years. Seen both sides, been food poisened and had someone claim they had food poisoning from the restaurant I was running at the time.

Some foodborne illnesses can show signs in a few hours(someone dresses their staph and then your poboy), but most bacterial infections(ie ecoli) take a day or two to infect.

When I had a fbi years ago the Heath dept called and asked me about a hundred questions. If you test positive by your doctor they are required to contact the department of health.

Serious food poisoning is somewhat rare, most of the time it's viral, alcohol or prescription drugs related to your sickness.

Was just coming to post something about this along these lines. Everybody just thinks raw is the only thing dangerous. Rice and greens have just the same potential and people hardly ever look past their last meal. One thing people overlook is whether or not that restaurant cleans it's drink dispensers properly. I've helped consult, if you would, friend's restaurants and found where they didn't clean soda nozzles and the such properly. Also, fecal matter is just prevalent everywhere. You touched that menu that everyone else touches whether they wash their hands or not. Then you go ahead and eat your food. That's just one example. While guests like to point out everything they see wrong they tend to not see the forest from the trees. Let me stress that I am not attacking the OP in any way. Just wanted to make the point that most people want to blame the restaurant when it's the general public is more to blame. The restaurant can only do so much to protect you.

MF Sushi, Kata Robata, and uchi for quality......Oishii for bulk in Houston. I love the abundance of Asian cuisine in this city. Went to Mala last night

Megumi in Mandeville is the best sushi hands down. It's worth a trip over the Causeway for.

I had a friend who got "food poisoning" 3-4 times a year. I knew it was a crock, but had no ammo to tell him otherwise.

Weren't you saying the other day How BR has good Indian food?

When I lived there Bay Leaf was pretty solid. Not sure about now.

And I probably know more about ethnic food than almost anyone here. Sushi in NOLA = mediocre.

Haven't been to Caspian but I've been to Kasra which is just down the road.

I hear good things about Caspian.
