Mickey Brown's beef tamales are awesome! I picked some up at Calandros about 20 minutes ago. They come in a pack of 12 and I was gonna eat 6 of them but these things were so good I am heating up the rest of them! Only problem is they are not wrapped in corn husks and stick to the wax paper that they are wrapped in a lil bit.

ETA: Those are the BEST tamales I have EVER had!

One of the brokers where I work told me he could get me about 2 years worth of Mickey Brown's tamales with about 16 pounds of deer meat. Worth it in your opinion?

I don't know if they are in BR yet. His shop is in Houma, so that's where the majority of his stuff is sold. He is doing Beef and Deer meat tamales and burritoes now.

Yeh, he would like to branch more out but in the economic situation we are in he can't hire someone to hop to stores selling his product.

We've gotten Mickey to make venison tamales in the past. They are incredible.

Yeh, he makes most of his stuff from people just bringing in their own meat from hunting.

I bought thirty dozen deer tamales from mickey during bow season, they are all gone. We are going to order some of the burrito`s in a few weeks with some meat we put up. When I think of Houma,I never think of tamales but his are real good. As well as I can remember,it was like $140 for thirty dozen tamales.
