My dog's name was Pete. He was a big yellow dog (Yellow Lab) and was our joy when we lived in Marion, Alabama. There was a dairy bar in Marion back then and we would go there for a custard cone at night. Pete loved to go for a ride in the truck and he loved vanilla custard ice cream.
I would say, "Want to go for Ice cream Pete?" and he would run to the back of the truck and jump until I came to lower the tail gate. He would start barking when the truck began moving and would continue barking until the truck stopped.
We stopped one night and I went to the window and told the Lady, "I want two cones and a bowl for my dog." She brought them to the window and said "just a minute while I get you a spoon."
I said, "I'm sorry Madam. I have never been able to teach that dog how to use a spoon."
The three ladies stood at the window and watched me give Pete his bowl in the back of the truck. He pushed the Styrofoam bowl around the back of the truck until he got it into the front driver's side corner and then polished off his frozen treat in about thirty seconds. Then I showed them the empty bowl, with not a single tooth mark.
He was not much of a veggie/Tater Tot fan, but he was a sucker for ice cream.
He got out one day and got hit by a car. The wife sat in the truck and cried as I buried him in a friend's pasture. When I finished I told her, no more dogs ever again. Hurt like burying a child.
Other then the Tater Tots, that looks a lot like Pete.

Ralph might be the funniest name for a dog I've ever heard.
