What's your point? The fact that they sell groceries doesn't change the fact that Maxwell's sandwiches are better than shitty arse McAllisters.

And, they make more money on the Deli than you realize.

McAlister = Birthplace Oxford Miss = Chain Deli for Clueless Rednecks

If they put as much money into the sandwiches, meats, and most importantly the portions, as they do their logo styrofoam cups and takeout boxes and napkins..they'd be able to make NYC Kosher Deli sized sandwiches..of which some of the greats served behemeth sandwiches wrapped in plain brown paper and thrown into generic brown bags.

Just stocking Dr Brown's sodas and some UBet syrup..does not a deli make!

While that may or may not be true, and while their prices are quite proud, there is no denying that Maxwell's makes some of BR's best grocer fare. It is so superior to the vast majority of Whole Foods stuff which is very hit-and-miss, with many dishes totally eye-candy/no flavor.

Maxwell's shrimp salad, potato salad, chicken salad, steak sandwich,etc..are all excellent.

McAllisters is awful. Not one time have I had a decent sandwich there. But it does have some flashy advertising, and the bill is pretty low.......so pretty sure it will do well in Alexandria.

Local sandwich shops go belly up by the bucket load, all with better product. It is a truly amazing phenomenon here that chains outnumber locally owned restaurants probably 2 or 3 to 1.

Bunch of McAllister's hate around here. It's decent IMO. I only get the grilled chicken club, so I can't give it a complete grade. Chimes club is way better, but obviously there not all over the country. The potato salad is okay (doesn't hold a candle to mom's though). It's okay for what it is.

mcallister's is just an insanely expensive sandwich for what it is .. you could make 7 of those at home for what you pay there ..

awh hell no you didn't.. the Grilled Chicken Club at Maxwell's and their french fries and sweet potato fries are better than anything you'll get at that nasty road-side diner, mccallisters.

I can honestly say out of all the delis, sandwich shops, and sub chains I've eaten at in my entire life, I can't remember any of them being as consistently below average as the food at McAllister's. Maxwell's, Inga's, AM Mart, Subway, Quiznos, Blimpie's, Camille's, Jimmy John's, Which Wich?, Panera and all the local delis I've eaten at have all been much better.

Their food is very bland, skimpy on meat, and has no freshness at all. It doesn't taste absolutely terrible, but the few times I've gone there I have been completely underwhelmed and disappointed.
