Made it to Cheddar's in S'Port...

on Sat. This is not a review, but I'll relay my experience.
There was a 15 min wait at 2PM for 2.5 people. The service was excellent. The food was about like I expected it to be, Chilis'ish. And there were a whole shite load of fat people.
People flock to these new chains like moths to a porch light up here. I'm sure in about 6 mos. it'll simmer and then eventually die like every other mid-line chain.
We suck at good restaurants up here.

Herbie K's
Blind Tiger
Brother's
Stramn's
Ernest's
Superior Steak House
Oyster Bar and Grill
Those are pretty good in my book. Competes with some in Baton Rouge!

Why?
We always drive past that god awful place, and there is always a line out the door. Then we pull up to Bistro Byronz, Wine Country, Columbia Cafe, or any other far superior local place, and are immediately seated.
It really just makes me sad.

I thought BR had a lot more when I lived there.
Posted on 2/14/11 at 3:59 pm to IlikeyouBetty
More? Of course. It's twice the size of Shreveport.
But as far as quality, I think BR's restaurant scene is just as good (or bad) as Shreveport.
And before any NOLA snobs jump in this thread...shut the frick up.

Wasn't when I lived there. But I get your point.

Hope I don't get shot.
Is that in the old Kettle place?

You know it's tough to find good food in Shreveport when there so many rec's for a place whose signature dish is 4 flat shrimp on a piece of toast.

Just wanted to say hi. How much longer are you going to wait to start doing some early morning listening?
Posted on 2/14/11 at 4:33 pm to IlikeyouBetty
Just kidding. I eat in Shreveport quite often. Always figured I didn't understand the Shrimp Buster.

I was going to wait till the 26th, but if it stays warm like this, I'll go this weekend.

bro, i thought the same thing. there is one my mi casa that has been open for over a year and every time I drive by it, there is a line out the door, people waiting around everywhere to get in.
I don't get it. I went once cause my wife wanted to try it and it was as expected, just like Chili's or the rest of the crappy arse chains. I can honestly say that i don't understand what people think is so good about the place. There are maybe two or three places I'd wait for an hour, a chili's type shithole is not one of them.

Bossier City is definitely a culinary wasteland...
