My wife and I are driving a rescue dog down to Opelousas from Natchitoches today to drop off with some people. We're probably just going to meet them right off of I-49, maybe in Walmart parking lot. Any suggestions on a good lunch nearby? Don't mind driving 20 or so minutes out of the way if it's worth it.

I've always liked Soilleaus and check to see if it's open but The Steamboat in Washington is really good, probably closed on Sunday.

We ended up at Soileau's.

I had the seafood platter poboy...catfish, shrimp, and oysters. Very good.

Opelousas is a Shitehole. Drove from BR to Shreveport and thought Opelousas would have a good restaurant to stop on the way. Found this sandwich shop (Forgot the name) on my phone put it in my gps, and pulled up to a burnt down building.

Joe's sandwich shop is pretty good. I ate Soileaus 10 years ago and found the food to be horrible. Even the seafood platter sucked. Glad to hear they are improved. The Steamboat is a very good eat place though.
