This is the complete opposite of my experience. Damned near every restaurant I go to doesn't have smaller lunch portions beyond salads and appetizers. I usually don't care, as lunch is generally my largest meal of the day, but on days when I want to eat quickly or am having a late lunch and already have dinner plans, it's annoying trying to pick an appetizer that I won't get bored with after three bites.
