I'm going to open up Monroe Brewing, except it's going to be in Simmesport. Or maybe New Roads?

The Canadians down there don't know anything about cotton anyway

I do realize that most people up there in Monroe have probably never heard of Cottonport, LA.

They've heard of it. They just don't care. The cotton port is the reason Monroe is a town. Tons of stuff are named after it. To think the first brewery wouldn't use the name because of some podunk town in Avoyolles parish is pretty crazy. But if you're not from here I don't expect you to get it. And if you're from Cottonport I can understand why you're upset. Still don't care though.

Moon River Brewing

Go to the Distillery.
Moon River only sells their own stuff and it is only "ok".
Go to World of Beer and see if there is anything you want to try, and get it to go and walk to the Distillery.

And report back.

Moon River is by the hotel. I'll stop in for a beer or two. Where is the Distillery? I've noticed a few tap houses here on Bay Street that I don't remember being here. Have you been to any of them?

Yea other than the Cotton Port, Fort Miro is about the only other historical thing of significance to choose from around here when naming things. Maybe Delta Airlines brewery

West side of downtown. On West Liberty. From Moon River you head left on Whitaker (south) and take a right on Liberty. It will be on your right at Montgomery Street. 15 minute walk if you are slow.

The Savannah Tap House is new. It's on Broughton near Leopolds Ice Cream (drool). Sports bar. Only been there once.

Treylor Park has a cool little outdoor patio, but can't remember the beer menu. I think it is pretty good. It is on Bay Street. (2 blocks east of Moon River).

Monroe had its cotton port up and running before Cotton Port was even born. Those posers are lucky we don't take their name back from them or make them go by Jr.

My pleasure. Thanks for the invite. Jerk.

Seriously though let me know where you go and your thoughts.

Another idea is to hit Southbound Brewery. 530-730 only

Service is closed today but if you are in town tomorrow, it is a good brewery too.

Southbound

Serivce Brewing
